12-31-25 THOUGHTS
HAPPY LAST DAY of 2025, and HAPPY NEW YEAR! How will I deal with 2026?
Ps 90:12 So teach us to number our days, That we may present to You a heart of wisdom.
Poet T.S. Elliott wrote in a poem,
“This is the way the world ends, not with a bang, but a whimper.”
At my age, I do not want to “whimper out!” There’s something admirable about a shooting star!
I believe John 10:10b applies to old folks as much as the young! “ I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”
Ps 92:13-15 Planted in the house of the LORD, They will flourish in the courts of our God. 14 They will still yield fruit in old age; They shall be full of sap and very green, 15 To declare that the LORD is upright; He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.
I’d like more “power of person”, not for myself, but for my God who blesses me so abundantly.
It would need to be a humble, loving, approachable power, something that draws rather than commands. I’d like to be a stronger influence for all I believe to be true and right. As a dear friend put it, I want to be a “shiny person.”
I’d like for the bearing of fruit to be “more done and finished”, than a wish and a thought! The same is true of love and fellowship with my brothers and sisters. I want us to actually motivate each other on some consistent basis. Php 1:27 “Only conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or remain absent, I will hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;”
Our Prayer:
Lord, motivate us to become in 2026, a loving, working fellowship, disciples of Christ who make disciples. May active, powerful prayer take its place in our midst, both individually and collectively. O God, help us to use this special gift from You more potently and effectively. Refresh, awaken and revive us, O Lord! Help us to magnify Your name in all that we do.
In the precious name of Jesus, Amen.
